The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Edo State has unveiled a specialized “Situation Room” dedicated to managing reports related to the upcoming 2024 governorship election in Edo State and other pertinent state and national matters.
The Chairman of the Edo State NUJ Council, Comrade Alenkhe announced this significant development at the Press Centre in Benin City.
He explained that the establishment of the Situation Room had become essential to shield politicians and high-net-worth individuals from being led astray by impostors who, in recent times, have been redirecting them to obscure locations under the guise of holding press briefings.
Comrade Festus Alenkhe stated, “The Edo NUJ Situation Room (SR) has been created by the Council and is open to anyone in need of its services, primarily for press briefings, particularly in relation to the 2024 governorship election and other pertinent state and national matters.”
He emphasized that this concept was carefully devised to ensure the protection of politicians and other individuals of high status from falling victim to impostors who might not adhere to the ethical standards of journalism, potentially resulting in legal actions.
